Chicago Neighborhoods: A Guide to All 77 Community Areas

Chicago is officially divided into 77 community areas, numbered 1 to 77. They’re the City’s stable map for planning and data, and they’re how this guide is organized: one page per community area, covering housing, transit, parks, libraries and the public schools inside its lines.

The neighborhood names people actually use (Wrigleyville, Bucktown, Andersonville) are a separate, longer and much more argued-about list. Each guide notes which of those names fall inside it. For the backstory, read 77 Community Areas, 200-Plus Neighborhoods, and the Border Wars In Between.

We’re adding guides a few at a time. Community areas without a link yet are on the way.
